Once I was asked: What is a Spongiform Pustule ?

This term was labeled in 1927 by a Croatian dermatologist named F.Kogoj
-It was thought to be specific to pustular psoriasis (and acrodermatitis continua of Hallopeau) but in fact it is also seen in Reiter's syndrome (Fiessinger-Leroy-Reiter)

Definition of a Spongiform Pustule:
-intraepidermal infiltrates of neutrophils in the the higher epidermis (stratum spinosum) right below the stratum corneum
-The pustular area appears to be multilocular looking like a sponge filled with neutrophils (Lapiere, Belgium, 1958))
